1. Soil sampling and scanning availability

Where land is clear, for example if newly acquired or lying fallow, soil sampling can be carried out now. SOYL has the capacity to provide this service across the UK. To request sampling or scanning, speak to your local SOYL contact or call Rebecca Tickle at SOYL on 01635 204190.

2. CLAAS yield mapping support

As the official precision farming partner for CLAAS UK, SOYL offers training and support to customers using yield mapping.

Purchases of new CLAAS combines for the coming season include a year’s software support. SOYL will make contact with customers in order to arrange software installation and training. Existing CLAAS yield mappers can also benefit from SOYL’s support service for a small annual charge.

SOYL can demonstrate how your yield map data can be used with Performance Mapping in a number of ways, including:

• Bespoke soil sampling design
• Fine tuning of P and K recommendations
• Multi-year yield trend maps.

3. Investment at Harper Adams University's National Centre for Precision Farming

The team from SOYL precision crop production is supporting Harper Adams University’s National Centre for Precision Farming with a donation of expert advice and services worth more than £10,000.

Keith Chaney, principal lecturer and Scott Kirby, farm manager at Harper, welcomed the involvement of SOYL. Dr Chaney described the importance of these evolving techniques in teaching and research at the University: “These developments provide the opportunity for students to have first-hand experience of current developments in the precise application of inputs. This bridges the gap between engineering advances and crop agronomy for students studying agriculture, agriculture with mechanisation and agricultural engineering as well as our new MSc in Precision Farming.”
